The Beginning of an Odyssey

Hey there

I'm David, Snake lover, Scuba-diving enthusiast, whatever you prefer to call me... Anyway, reptiles have held me in their spell for over two decades now. While most people shy away from them, I've found them endlessly captivating and intriguing. I've always had a tendency to plunge headlong into the unknown, but it seems to work because it's given me some of my best experiences.

I believe my purpose on this Earth is to immerse myself in the world of herpetology, striving to become the best in my field in order to protect the animals I love. I want to devote myself to public awareness and the study of snakes, given the myriad threats to them worldwide.


From a biological point of view, what intrigued me about snakes was their incredible morphological diversity. They come in all shapes and sizes, which really fascinated me. Since then, I've been particularly interested in the functional morphology and evolutionary biology of these organisms. I want to understand how morphological traits have evolved in each family, how the environment has shaped this successful clade to adapt to extreme environments, and finally understand the origin and evolutionary history behind them. Discovering these processes can greatly help us understand how a species has managed to thrive over time, adding one more stone to complement Darwin's evolutionary theory.

My mission (I guess) is to unravel the mysteries of these creatures and share their wonder with the world. There's a wealth of work to be done in this field, and I'm eager to play my part in it. Snakes hold a treasury of secrets that they're slowly revealing to us, and with each revelation, we gain invaluable insights into their biology and the natural world at large.

I've decided to create my own website to share my adventure with the world and to start making information easily accessible so that people can understand that sometimes meeting people is the most important thing. Here you'll find all the past and future adventures I intend to embark on as I begin my career as a young biologist with a passion for reptiles.
